Scorpions are ancient predators that have survived since before the dinosaurs. With around 1500 species, they inhabit every continent except Antarctica. Only a few dozen species pose a threat to humans, with the Indian red scorpion being the most lethal. This small scorpion is a significant public health concern in countries like India, especially for children. Scorpions are arachnids, related to spiders and ticks, with distinct anatomy including pincers and a stinger. Despite their fearsome reputation, they are shy and nocturnal, using their anatomy to capture and digest prey.
