The video introduces Dr. Mark Dean, an African-American inventor who holds three of IBM's original nine PC patents. Born in 1957, Dean excelled in math and built his own computer in high school. He earned degrees in electrical engineering and joined IBM in 1980, contributing significantly to the invention of the personal computer. Dean became the first African-American IBM Fellow in 1995 and holds over 20 patents. He led the team that developed the 1 GHz chip and contributed to the architecture enabling multiple device connections to PCs. Dean was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame and the National Academy of Engineers. He has taught at Harvard and is currently a distinguished professor at the University of Tennessee.
