Nicholas Copernicus, born in 1473 in Poland, was raised by his uncle after his parents' death. He studied at the Jagiellonian University and later in Italy, where he was influenced by astronomer Domenico Ferrara. Copernicus returned to Varnia and developed his heliostatic theory, which proposed that the Earth revolves around the Sun. Despite initial reluctance, his book was published in 1543, the year of his death. His work laid the foundation for the Scientific Revolution, influencing figures like Galileo and Kepler.
