Titian, a key figure of the Venetian Renaissance, was born in Pieve di Cadore and trained in Venice under Bellini. He formed a close bond with Giorgione, completing 'The Venus of Dresden' after Giorgione's death. Titian's early works include frescoes for the Fondaco dei Tedeschi. After a plague in 1511, he became a leading artist in Venice, known for his diverse subjects. In 1516, he was named Official Painter of the Serenissima. Besides his art, Titian was a savvy entrepreneur, using marketing techniques and working with patrons like Charles V. In his later years, he experimented with darker colors, but his life ended during a plague in 1576.
