During the early hours of Christmas, vandals defaced statues of Carlos Drummond de Andrade in Copacabana and Zózimo Barroso do Amaral in Leblon. The police are working to identify the culprits using security footage. The Drummond statue was marked with white paint and its aluminum plaque was damaged. This monument has been vandalized multiple times before. Security cameras captured the act, and the footage will be sent to the police. A local merchant cleaned the statue later in the morning. No footage is available for the vandalism of the Zózimo statue.
