Blind Cut

• A cut made without being able to see the blade or the material being cut.

• A cut that is used for decorative purposes.

Router

• A device that forwards data packets between computer networks.

• A tool used to hollow out an area in the face of a piece of wood. Used for cutting a decorative edge or design on wood.

Utility Lumber

• Lumber used for general construction purposes, often not graded for appearance.

• Lumber that is specifically graded for aesthetic purposes.

Stress Graded

• Wood used in applications where strength and stability are important. Also called dimensional lumber.

• Wood that is primarily used for decorative purposes.

• Wood that is treated to resist pests and decay.

• Wood that is lightweight and easy to transport.

Nominal Dimensions

• The actual dimensions of lumber after it is planed or surfaced.

• The dimensions of lumber before it is planed or surfaced, often larger than the actual dimensions.

• The dimensions of lumber used for decorative purposes only.

• The dimensions of lumber that are standardized across all manufacturers.
