Exciting Pole Climbing Competition: Celebrating Independence Day

Hi, I'm Yoga Saputra. I want to share my experience during Indonesia's Independence Day

celebration. It was so much fun! We had a competition on August 17th in our village called pole

climbing or "panjat pinang." People of different ages joined in. Our goal was to climb a tall bamboo

pole with prizes at the top. But there was a catch the bamboo was very slippery because it was

greased.

It was tough trying to grab the prizes. We would get close, but then slip and fall. Despite this,

everyone had a great time. The crowd cheered and laughed as they watched us struggle. Usually,

five people formed a team for this competition, and many teams registered with the organizers.

This experience taught us the importance of working together, never giving up, and finding joy in

facing challenges. Although we didn’t win any prizes, the excitement of participating and celebrating

independence will always stay in our hearts.
