Present progressive tense

Use the present progressive for things that are happening...

• actually

• every day.

• now.

Form the present progressive with the verb ...

• be + -ing.

• be + infinitive

• • -ing.

When a verb ends in -e, .....

• don´t remove -e and add -ing. Example: take - takeing

• remove -e and add -ying. Example: take - takying

• remove -e and add -ing. Example: take - taking

When a verb ends with a vowel + consonant,....

• double the vowel and add -ing. Example: stop - stoopeing

• double the last consonant and add -ing. Example: stop - stopping

• add -ing. Example: stop - stoping

When a verb ends in -ie,...

• change the -ie to -e and add -ing. Example: lie - ling

• add -ing. Example: lie - lieing

• change the -ie to -y and add -ing. Example: lie - lying
