Mitral Valve

• Located between the right atrium and right ventricle; prevents backflow into the atrium

• Located between the left atrium and left ventricle; prevents backflow into the atrium

• Located between the left ventricle and aorta; prevents backflow into the ventricle

• Located between the right ventricle and pulmonary artery; prevents backflow into the ventricle

Sequence of electrical conduction pathway

• the SA node, AV node, Bundle of His, left and right bundle branches, and Purkinje fibers

• the SA node, Bundle of His, right atrium, and left ventricle

• the AV node, Purkinje fibers, right bundle branch, and left atrium

Right Ventricle

• pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs through the pulmonary artery

• pumps oxygenated blood to the body through the aorta

• receives deoxygenated blood from the body

• pumps blood to the left atrium

Tricuspid valve

• Is on the left side of the heart; it has two thin flaps of tissue, called cusps or leaflets

• Is on the right side of the heart; it has three thin flaps of tissue, called cusps or leaflets

• Is located between the left atrium and left ventricle; it has four thin flaps of tissue, called cusps or leaflets

• Is on the right side of the heart; it has four thin flaps of tissue, called cusps or leaflets

QRS Complex

• part of the EKG that shows ventricular depolarization (contracting)

• part of the EKG that shows atrial depolarization

• part of the EKG that shows ventricular repolarization

Epicardium

• innermost layer of the heart; protects the heart from infection

• outermost layer of the heart; provides a smooth surface for the heart to beat against
