Gulf

• part of a sea or ocean extending into the land, usually larger than a bay

Foothills

• hilly area at the base of a mountain

Canyon

• a deep, narrow valley with steep sides

• a large body of water surrounded by land

• a flat area of land with few trees

• a high, rocky mountain peak

Desert

• dry land with few plants

• a wetland area with abundant vegetation

• a mountainous region with heavy snowfall

• a tropical rainforest with high humidity

Coast

• land along the sea or ocean

Bluff

• high, steep face of rock or earth

• a type of fruit

• a card game

• a sudden loud noise

Floodplain

• flat land that is near the edges of a river and is formed by silt and deposited by floods

• highland area that is often dry and receives little rainfall

• steep slope that leads down to a body of water

• valley that is formed by the erosion of a river over time

Fall Line

• area along which rivers form waterfalls or rapids as the rivers drop to lower land

• a geographical boundary between two different ecosystems

• a line marking the highest point of a river

• a term used to describe the flow of water in a straight line
