This theory stated that organisms can reshape or alter their traits depending on the

importance of those traits to the organisms. Lamarck believed that giraffes before having

short necks, but because of the need to survive and to reach tall trees for food. they kept

stretching their necks until these became longer and able to reach taller trees.
