Organizing for School

The following are the best ways to keep up with school assignments:

• use a written planner/agenda

• memorize the due dates

• check the agendas on Canvas for every class

• use a planner AND check the agendas for every class

Assignments should be done:

• the day the assignment is given

• 30 minutes before bedtime

• whenever you have nothing else going on that you want to do

• when you realize you have a missing assignment

A distraction to completing homework is:

• texting a friend

• with video games on

• in the middle of the living room while other people are watching TV

• all of the above

You can keep yourself on task by

• eating snacks while you are doing homework

• doing the easiest homework first

• going through your planner and doing the hardest homework first

• telling your parents to remind you to do your homework

When you complete a homework paper at home, what should you do with it?

• Put it anywhere in your homework folder

• Put it directly in your backpack

• Put it in the "Turn In" side of your red homework folder

• Put it anywhere in a trapper keeper or binder that you will take to school

If you have math on Tuesday, and your teacher assigns homework that is due Thursday, when should you do that homework?

• Wednesday evening

• Whenever you have time before Thursday

• During Advisory Thursday morning

• Tuesday evening

Why is it important to do your homework on the same day it is assigned?

• If you have questions, you can ask your teacher and get help before the assignment is due.

• If you get lost, you can ask the teacher during the live class or the next day in class

• If something unexpected comes up at home that night, you still have one more day to complete your homework.

• All of the answers are correct.

In addition to writing assignments and reminders in your planner, what other tool can you use to help you remember things?
