Coordinate Graph

Ordered Pair

• A point on a graph. (x,y)

• A pair of elements.

• Points that are the same.

x-coordinate

• the x-value in an ordered pair. It is the first value.

• (x,y)

Y-Coordinate

• The y-value in an ordered pair.

• Where a line cross the y-axis

Origin

• The point at which the x and y axis crosses.

• Where you start a line or graph.

x-axis

• the axis along which values of x are measured (horizontal)

• the axis along which values of x are measure (vertical)

y-axis

• the axis along which values of y are measure (vertical)

• the axis along which values of x are measured (horizontal)

Quadrant

• The section created by the dissection of the coordinate plane by the x and y axis. Roman numerals are used to notate the quadrants.

• Quadrant I, Quadrant II, Quadrant III and Quadrant IV

• Start in the top right and follow counter clockwise

• All of the above

• Top right section with the (+,+) coordinates.

• Top left section with the (-,+) coordinates.

• Bottom left section with the (-,-) coordinates.
