When the plane landed in Rio...

• The plane arrives in Rio

• The plane leaves Rio

It felt as if we were landing edge of the world.

• It felt as if we were at the limit, or boundary place of the world.

• It felt It felt as if we were in the center of the world.

It was strange to realise this heat was normal for a Brazilian summer.

• I didn't understand it.

• I understood it for the first time.

The town had hardly anything. But it had soul.

• It was a typical town.

• It had its own essence, character.

They didn't seem to notice the stranger.

• They didn't see or hear him.

• They didn't like him.

They were walking the same route as me.

• They were walking slowly like me.

• They were walking the same path, or way as me.

Living by the sea makes everyone close.

• Everyone is stranger to one another.

• Everyone has strong relationships with one another.

But as I lie on my hammock every day...

• I lie on the hanging bed, which is suspended between two points, every day.

• I lie on my bed, which is placed in my bedroom, every day.
