What are the working principles of a heat pump?

A water pump moves water from a lower level to a higher level through the application of energy.

Refrigerant liquid is warmed by outside air and evaporates to a gas, then the gaseous refrigerant is compressed and its temperature increases which then passes through your cylinder and warms the vessel. The gas then cools and begins to condense to a liquid due to sudden drop in refrigerant pressure.

Heat is generated by burning fossil fuels and then transferred to the property.

Solar panels collect heat from the sun and transfer it to the property.

What is a refrigerant?

A substance or mixture, usually a fluid, used in a heat pump and refrigerant cycle. In most cycles it undergoes phase transition from a liquid to a gas and back again.

A solid material that absorbs heat and releases it slowly.

A type of insulation used in heat pumps.

A device that measures temperature changes.

What is the role of a compressor in a heat pump?

It compresses the refrigerant causing the gas to heat up

It cools down the refrigerant causing the gas to cool down

It circulates the refrigerant without changing its temperature

It filters the refrigerant to remove impurities
