Technical Terms used in Research

An organized body of concepts and principles intended to explain a particular phenomenon.

EX: Evolution of man, Big-bang, Pangaea, etc.

A reasonable guess, and educated conjecture. It provides a tentative explanation of a phenomenon under investigation.

Examples:

• Employees who bring their own lunch spend less money throughout the day.

• Eating three balanced meals a day has a positive effect on productivity, as opposed to eating small snacks throughout the day. 

This refers to a person, place, thing, or phenomenon that you are trying to measure.
