Why do we bother to quality assure in education?

• to ensure a product meets the requirements that it is supposed to meet

• to develop shared understanding of the expected quality of learning

• it increases customer confidence and a company's credibility

• To assist students to become assessment literate learners

• it assists teachers to improve teaching and inform assessment practices

Students who are assessment literate are able to:

• understand the purpose of what they are doing

• look at results only in terms of what they did wrong

• demonstrate their understanding through their engagement with assessment

• reflect on feedback and apply it in the future

• understand the basis on which judgements will be made

When planning an effective assessment program, we make informed decisions about:
