Meditation Verses for Book of Matthew 21&22:
Chapter 21: This chapter inspires us to welcome Our Lord Jesus as our King in our Lives. It begins with the Lord Jesus’s Entrance into Jerusalem riding on a donkey. The crowds lay palm leaves and their cloaks on the road, shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” We also see Our Lord Jesus enters the temple, drive out the money changers and merchants, and overturns their tables, declaring it a house of prayer not a place of distractions. We also see this cursing of the barren fig tree and how our Lord Jesus expects to find some fruit something that would be pleasing to him. It showed God’s disapproval of people who are all leaves and no fruit. This chapter also shows how Our Lord Jesus delivered several parables, including the parable of the two sons, the wicked tenants, and the weddings feast. These stories expose the hypocrisy of some people and emphasize the importance of faithful obedience and what matters is truly living for God.
Chapter 22: Starts with the Parable of the Wedding feast, which reflect the one of main points of this chapter, which is many are called but few are chosen. Also, we see that our Lord Jesus answered many questions regarding paying taxes, the reality of resurrection, the greatest commandment and talked about the Messiah and how he is the Son of David and at the same time the Lord of David. This chapter challenges us to heed God’s invitation, live responsibly, understand life beyond death and love God and others.
