5). I was born in 1911 and grew up in Sandusky, Ohio. I was an artist and the first Black American to be admitted to the Cleveland Institute of Art. I also attended the Cleveland School of the Arts and what is now Case Western Reserve University.  I am one of the original founders of Cleveland’s famous Karamu House theater. My work is on display at the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage.
