Mixing studies

Substitution studies may be performed by mixing correction reagents, such as adsorbed plasma and aged serum, with the patient's plasma and then performing the PT and/or APTT to identify a specific factor deficiency. Adsorbed plasma is rich in factors V, VIII, XI and XII. Aged serum is rich in factors VII, IX, X, XI and XII.
