Example: You shouldn’t cut corners when doing homework because you could get a bad grade.

Hands are tied

Example: I needed help using the tools in Mr. Webber’s class and I emailed Ms. Sargent for help. She said “I wish I could help Jack but my hands are tied”

Think outside the box

Example: When I watch videos in Film Studies and have to analyze how people are thinking, I need to think outside the box.

By the book

Example: I like to do things by the book.

Get the ball rolling

Example: I have to get the ball rolling with my summative assessment.

Go the extra mile

Example: I went the extra mile on my Math homework assignment because I did more problems than asked.

Call it a day

After I checked to make sure the hallways are clean at Marcus, I called it a day.
