• Study of the anatomical structures which can be seen by unaided vision

Medial plane

Smooth membrane consisting of a thin layer of cells which excrete a fluid, know as serous fluid

Mucous membrane

• Thick stringy fluids found in the cavities of synovial joints

• Epithelial tissue which secretes mucus which lines many body cavities and tubular organs including the gut and respiratory passages

• Closer to midline of the body

• At or near the middle

Peripheral

• At or near the edge

• Within a body cavitie

• Head

• Back elbow
