ABO Discrepancy in Reverse Typing

An auto control and O cell control must always be tested concurrently with the reverse typing

What is the ideal centrifugation time in doing the reverse typing:

Immune antibodies:

• Incompatible Transfusion

• Naturally Occurring Antibodies

• Incompatible pregnancies (HDN)

ABO antibodies:

• Not appropriate to new Born Infant-Reverse Typing

• Not normally present at birth

• Develop 3-6 months after birth

• Predominantly IgM and react at room temperature (20-24C)

The reverse typing in ABO detects:

Incompatible pregnancies happens in:

• HDN

• Erythroblastosis fetalis
