Improving water technologies helps Singapore to i (a)   its water supply to meet its domestic, industrial, agricultural and recreational needs, independently of weather.

To increase water supply to meet Singapore's needs, (a)   water is treated and disinfected to produce potable water known as Newater.

D (a)   helps to increase water supply through reverse osmosis which removes salts and minerals from saltwater to produce drinkable water. This supplements water from other National Taps and reduces our reliance on other countries for water.

The Water Efficiency Labelling scheme (WELS) educates the public on water conservation through the use of water-efficient appliances. R (a)   water consumption in domestic activities means that there is more water available for other activities (eg. agricultural, recreational and industrial) in Singapore.

The enforcement of environmental protection laws will d (a)   industries from polluting water. Together with water/river clean up efforts, water quality can be improved, hence increasing the amount of clean water for use.

Protected areas have been established to prevent the destruction of forests and their biodiversity through setting of (a)   . Forest rangers carry out patrols and people who break the laws are fined/jailed.

Reforestation is the planting of trees in areas where the o (a)   forest has been cleared. It allows the forest to be re-established and biodiversity to be restored.

P (a)   education through guided tours can raise awareness about the importance and ways of forest cnservation. When everyone does their part to adopt forest conservation practices, deforestation and extraction of resources from forests can be reduced.

C (a)   logging is a way to regulate forestry activities.

To regulate forestry activities, companies may be allowed to cut down only older trees or trees that are economically valuable. As the other plants ar left untouched, this reduces the overall d (a)   to the forest. The forest is also able to recover/regrow quickly as the younger trees have more space and sunlight to grow.
