Bekantans, or commonly called Dutch monkeys with the scientific name nasalis larvatus, are a type of long-nosed monkey and one of two species in the genus Nasalis, originating from Borneo.
Bekantan has a brownish-red body color and has a large and long nose. Bekantans are unique animals weighing around 6-22 kilograms with an average height of 55-76 cm. They have webbed skin on their legs and arms like foxes and frogs. Bekantans live in mangrove trees near the sea and they are also good at swimming. Proboscis monkeys are arboreal animals that eat, sleep and play in trees. They can climb, hang, and move their limbs around. Their food is young leaves, fruit and flowers.Bekantans can be found in the forests of Borneo.
