Accommodation VS Modification

Liz is diagnosed with ASD and often feels the need to pace. Her teacher used painter's tape to create a rectangle in the back of the classroom where Liz is able to go when she feels the need to pace. She is asked to stay within that space in order to minimize distractions.

Gabe has a learning disability and is struggling with his 4th-grade math assignments. His teacher has shortened his grade-level assignments. While his peers are answering 20 questions, he is only answering 10.

While her peers read silently, she listens to an audio recording of the text. However, her teacher focuses on the same grade-level learning objectives with Mikayla as she does with the other students.
