Book of Judith

Meditation verse for the book of Judith Chapter 1 & 2:

The Book of Judith is one of The Deuterocanonical Books. This book is the story of a woman, Judith, who was able to rescue the people of God. Judith represents a widow, who lived her life in a strong relationship with God.

In Chapter 1: We see How Nebuchadnezzar, The king of Assyrians, fought against a strong king, Arphaxad, and prevailed over him and how later Nebuchadnezzar started to feel pride and arrogance. He started to elevate himself and consider himself “god” of the world. We see how he started to send messengers to all the cities to let the people over there to submit to him and exalt him and how they all contradicted and sent these messengers back and rejected them without honor. We also see how Nebuchadnezzar started to get so angry against all that land and decided to destroy all of these cities.

In Chapter 2: We see how Nebuchadnezzar, started his plan to destroy the cities and avenge himself, and put all the earth to his authority. So he called all the native leaders and notified them about what he thought. Then he called Holofernes, the leader of his military to start his plan to destroy these cities. We notice also in this chapter; how strong this army was and how they were able to open and destroy many cities easily.
