What is the cell membrane?

• The outermost layer and it controls what exits and enters the cell.

• Are small or large sacs that store materials. Plant cells have on large one but animal cells have tiny multiple ones.

• The rigid layer of material that surrounds the cell. It is made out of cellulose and it's job is to protect and support the cell.

• Tiny organelles that look like pepper grains. They float freely in the cytoplasm or are attached to the ER. Their job is to produce proteins.

What is the cell wall?

• The rigid layer of material that is made out of cellulose. It surrounds the plant cells and it's job is to protect and support the plant cells.

• Large green organelles that are only found in plant cells. They are what made the plants green and it's job is to capture the radiant energy from the sunlight and make food from the sunlight.

• Looks like several flattened tubes stacked on each other and they receive materials from the ER. They modify them and then package them to send to another part of the cell or outside of the cell.

What is cytoplasm?

• A gel-like fluid inside of the cell. Its main job is to hold all of the components of a cell in one place.

• Small round structures that contain strong chemicals called enzymes. Its main job is to break down waste.

• A complex network of protein filaments. It gives the cell its shape and its organization. It involves the movement of materials in the cell.

What is an organelle?

• Organelles are specialized parts of cells that carry out specific functions.

• Organelles direct all of the cells activities and moves materials within the cell.

• Organelles break down waste and help the cell move. The organelles also give the cell its shape and organization.

• Organelles are like the security guards of the cell. They control what goes in the cell and what comes out.

What is the nucleus?

• A large oval structure that directs all of the activities in the cell. The nucleus also holds the DNA, which is like an instruction manual of how to make proteins. Inside of it also has something called the nucleolus, which produces ribosomes.

• An organelle that looks like a jellybean with wavy lines inside of it and it's the cells powerhouse. Its job is to produce energy-storing molecules.

• Small or large sacs and its job is to store materials like water, food, and waste. Animals tend to have small multiple ones but plant cells tend to have one large one.
