Civics Unit 2

Is a brief introductory statement of the US Constitution's fundamental purposes and guiding principles.

To form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, [and] promote the general Welfare.

Creates a Congress consisting of a Senate and a House of Representatives

Executive Branch

The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts

Power to coin money, to regulate commerce, to declare war, to raise and maintain armed forces, and to establish a Post Office

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Powers that are shared by both the federal government and state governments

It spells out Americans' rights in relation to their government

Right to vote in public, political elections and referendums
