Fascinating information has come out due to genetic studies of dogs. We have learned that for the longest time, humans used and bred dogs for practical reasons. Experts believe Neanderthals in Europe used dogs for hunting. However, the genes of North American dogs are linked to dogs that came from Asia with the ancestors of the Native Americans.

Due to breeding, some dog breeds have changed significantly over the past hundred years. English bulldogs have become more muscular and stocky. Their chests have gotten wider, their legs are shorter, and their faces are flatter now. Also, the bulldog has more extra skin on its body. Unfortunately, the modern-day bulldog suffers from many health issues, and the average lifespan is just over 6 years.

If you don’t like being greeted by a furry bundle of love after a hard day, don’t get a dog. If you hate when your best friend gives you a stuffed toy when you are sad, don’t get a dog. If you don’t like to smile a lot, definitely don’t get a dog.

Giving makes you happy and healthy. According to a study conducted by the National Institute of Health, interesting things happen when people give to a charity. A part of the brain associated with pleasure is activated. Giving also releases endorphins, producing a feeling of happiness. Giving is also linked to good health. This is probably because generous people enjoy decreased stress.

What if you cannot afford to donate money? Then you can give your time and effort. Here are some ideas: Offer to help elderly family members or neighbors. Elderly people often need assistance, and many don’t want to ask for help. Organize a yard sale in your community and donate the money earned. People who give of themselves are a special breed. Their generosity makes it possible for others to experience joy.
