No Indonesian victims in Aegean Sea earthquake: Embassy in Turkey
The Indonesian Embassy in Turkey has said there are no reports of Indonesian victims from a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that hit the Aegean Sea off the coasts of Turkey and Greece on Friday. In a statement issued Friday, the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, said that it would continue coordination with local authorities and the Indonesian citizen protection task force in the country and communities in the affected region. “So far, we have not received any reports regarding Indonesian nationals directly affected by the earthquake,” Harliyanto, the embassy’s citizen protection coordinator, said in a statement. According to embassy data, ninety-eight Indonesian citizens reside in Izmir, Turkey, and nearby regions affected by the tremor. Most of them are students and spa workers.
