Everyone is a leader, but how well do you lead?

Your teacher asks you to stand at the school gate to note down who is more than 10 minutes late for school. Among the group of latecomers is a member of your CCA. He looks at you and grins.

• You grin back and write his name along with the rest.

• You look away and “forget” to include his name in the list.

• You stare at him and try to decide if doing your duty will take a toll on your friendship.

The deadline for your group’s history project is fast approaching, but progress remains slow.

• You outline a plan and then divide and distribute tasks according to your members’ strengths.

• You stay up night after night to complete the work.

• You text your members memes that emphasise the value of hard work.

During a lesson on racial harmony, the teacher asks each of you to share an experience or thought on the issue if possible.

• You have no personal experiences, so you instead share your view on the importance of being open-minded.

• You want to share, but hesitate to do so because public speaking is not really your thing.

• You talk about a story you heard from a neighbour, share about a movie you watched last night, then end with a joke.

You meet a new person and you find her to be someone you would like to hang out more with.

• To find a connection, you talk to her about your hobbies and the music you listen to every day.

• After observing her for a while, you talk only about the things she likes.

• IRL you do what you think she likes, but when online you revert to being yourself.

A project you and three others designed won a district award and a reporter asks you what winning means to you.

• You make sure each member highlights his or her contributions individually. Then, you gather the group for a team photo.

• After you explain your role in the project, you offer to have your picture taken while holding the award.

• As a group, with you in the lead, you talk to the reporter about the project. Later, you hold the award during the photo-taking session.

During a meeting of a CCA in which you are in charge of, one of your juniors suggests a new way of doing things.

• After discussing it with your fellow senior members, you decide to use the new way because, though it would take some getting used to, it is better.

• You like how things are because you are familiar with them so you ignore the suggestion.

• You ask your junior many questions and then call for a seniors only meeting so the decision is not left up to you.

A friend is having trouble adjusting to the heavier school workload and confides in you.

• You listen until he stops talking, then you share your experience and how you cope.

• While he is talking, you cut in with advice. After he is done, you tease him to lighten the mood.

• As you listen, you are thinking of solutions. Once he is done, you talk nonstop for 30 minutes.

The annual class decoration contest is coming up.

• You encourage those who did not participate actively last year to pitch in because they will have fresh ideas.

• You volunteer to be part of the cleanup crew.

• Last year’s concept was so good, so you suggest reusing it. After all, there are still some leftover decorations in the storeroom.

During a class gathering, there are not enough chairs around the table for people to sit and eat.

• You take away all the chairs and arrange the food buffet style.

• You are among the first to sit and eat while others wait their turn.

• You mark out toothpicks to ballot for the seats.

One of your CCA committee members is down with Covid-19.

• You reassign his duties so he does not need to worry.

• You give him new duties he can do while he is at home.

• You ask him to find somebody to cover for him while he is out of action.
