Atom

Atomic Nucleus

• The outer shell of an atom that contains electrons.

• Positively charged subatomic particles.

• The small, dense region at the center of an atom.

• Subatomic Particles with a neutral (no) charge.

Atomic Mass

• The mass of the electron cloud

• The mass of a chemical element (protons + neutrons)

• The small, dense part of an atom.

• The outermost electrons in the electron shell.

Atomic Number

• The number of valence electrons.

• The mass of a chemical element (protons + neutrons).

• Subatomic particles with a neutral (no) charge.

• The number of protons in an atom.

Bohr Model

• A model of the atom that shows the nucleus surrounded by circles that have electrons inside them.

• A model of the nucleus that shows the protons and neutrons only.

• The same thing as the periodic table.

• A model that shows ONLY the amount of protons in an atom.

Electron

• Have a positive charge and are found in the nucleus of an atom.

• Have a neutral (no) charge and are found in the nucleus of an atom.

• Have a negative charge and are found orbiting the nucleus of an atom.

Electron Cloud

• The system of electrons surrounding the nucleus of an atom.

Neutron
