What is a parable ?

• Simple story to illustrate a moral story
• A lie
• A fairy tale

Why did Jesus teach using parables?

• He used familiar objects and events so that his listeners could easily understand.
• He liked to tell stories
• He liked to make things up

In this parable: Jesus cautioned against acting like a follower of Jesus but not really believing in him.

• The Narrow Gate

• The Great Banquet

In this parable: Jesus warned us that we need to listen to God's word and obey it with thankful hearts while we still can. After we die it's too late to repent, to show love and mercy to the needy, or to teach others to repent and believe in God.

In this parable Jesus said to watch out for greed. Life does not consist in the abundance of our possessions.
