After soccer practice you hand out birthday invitations to everyone except a little boy you didn’t know. As you were leaving you saw him crying and talking to his mom. Why was the boy crying? What could you do or say?

• He is upset because he doesn't know anyone. Ignore him and go home.

• He is upset because you didn't invite him to your party. Introduce yourself, apologize, and invite him to come to the party as well.

• He probably just got hurt playing soccer. Tell him to dry it up and quit crying.

• He is sad because you didn't invite him to your party. Tell him maybe next year.

Your sister was out riding her new bike. She suddenly came running in the house crying. Why do you think she was crying and what could you do about it?

• She probably hurt herself riding her bike. I should comfort her and make sure she's okay, then give her a nice pep talk to get back on her bike!

• She is too scared to ride alone so I'm going to just stand outside with her while she rides her bike.

Someone in your class teased you because you got so many wrong on your spelling test. How did you feel? What did you do?

• I don't mind it and I didn't do anything wrong. I told them I tried my best on the spelling test and will study to do better next time.

• I am very upset about it and told the teacher about my classmate.

The teacher asked you a question in class, but you didn't know the answer. How do you feel? What do you do?

• I feel uncomfortable. I don't like being called on in class so I just put my head down after I told her I don't know the answer.

• I feel awkward. I told her I don't know but that it's okay because she can teach me.

• I am annoyed that she called on me so I ignore her and don't say anything

• I feel fine because i know that it is okay to not know the answer to everything. I told her I don't know the answer.

Some students in class are telling lies about your friend. How does that make you feel and what would you do?

• That upset me because it upsets my friend. I told the students who started the lie that it is not nice to make things up about someone and to please apologize to my friend.

• That makes me very mad. I told the kids who started the lie to stop talking about my friend or i would start a lie about them.

• That makes me sad because my i know it hurts my friends feelings. I told the teacher about the students telling the lie and comforted my friend and reminded her to not listen to lies.

• That doesn't bother me because it doesn't affect me. I am going to mind my business and stay out of the situation. My friend can deal with the other students alone.

While you were walking in the hall, a girl tripped you and started laughing. How does that make you feel and what would you do about it?

• I am very upset. I am going to report the girl to a teacher or adult and tell them what she did. They will handle the situation for me.

• I am angry. I am going to yell at the girl for laughing at me and push her down so she can see how it feels.

• I am not bothered. I am going to ignore the girl and act like it didn't happen. Hopefully she won't do it to someone else.

In the lunchroom, your friend dropped his tray and his food went all over the floor. What do you think he is feeling and what would you do?

• He is probably angry that his meal is ruined. I would go over to him and help him clean up the mess, then i would offer him some of my food for him to eat.

• He is probably upset about dropping his tray and not having a meal to eat. I would tell the lunch ladies what happened so he can get a new meal.

• He is probably sad that he dropped his tray. I would just watch because i don't want to get involved in the situation.

You were working on a test and the bell rang. You were not done. How do you feel? What would you do?

• I feel frustrated. I told my teacher that I wasn't done with my test and that I need more time to work on it.

• I wasn't bothered by it because I know I will get more time to work on it later. I told my teacher that I wasn't finished

• I was angry that I wasn't able to finish. I crumbled it up and threw it away because i know I was going to get a bad grade regardless.

• I was sad that i didn't get to finish. I put my head down and cried at my desk because i was so upset.

Your Parent told you that you couldn't spend the night with your best friend because you didn't do your chores. How do you feel? What would you do?

• I would be super angry at them for not letting me go. I would tell them I hate them for not letting me do what I want and hide in my room.

• I would be upset but understanding of the situation. I would apologize for not doing my chores and ask them if i could sleep over another time.

• I would cry because I am sad that I cannot stay the night with my best friend. I would beg them to change their mind.

• I'd be okay because it was my choice to not do my chores and this is the result of it. I would complete them as soon as I can and then ask to sleepover another time once they're done.
