What do the six lines represent?

What is the order of the six lines/strings on the paper?

• 1-6, 1st string on top (thinnest).

• 6-1, 6th string (thickest) on top

The numbers on the lines/strings tell us two things (pick two).

• How many times we play the note

• Which FRET we push in

• Which FINGER we push in

What does this tell the guitar player?

• First finger, 6th string, pluck four times.

What do 0's mean?

• Don't play anything at all
