Night of the Twisters Chapter 7

The gurgling, splashing water the boys heard was caused by

• falling rain

• a broken gutter

• broken pipes

All that remained of Dan's house was

• one wall

• the cement foundation

• the bathroom and the stairs from the basement to the upper level

arthur described the rubble of the house as

• scattered cards

• shredded paper

• pickup sticks

The boys were barricaded in the bathroom by a tangle of

• two-by-fours

• broken furniture and metal

• concrete blocks

Dan felt he must leave the house and

• get Ryan to a safe place

• find his mother

• find some dry clothes

Wedged into the basement hallway, was

• somebody's camper shell

• Dad's rocker-lounger

• part of the roof

Dan was glad his mom and dad

• were in a safe area

• had taught him to take shelter

• weren't there to see their house in rubble

The low, moaning sound the boys heard was

• thunder

• a helicopter

• a falling water tower

When he injured his leg on nails sticking out of a board, Dan realized the basement was

• probably the best place for them to stay in spite of the rubble

• a death trap

• a possible long-term shelter

Dan called for Minerva although he knew she was

• terrified and wouldn't answer him

• gone

• somewhere under the rubble and couldn't hear him
