Rule - Section A: The present continuous sentence uses:

(subject) + (be) + (ing)

Example: He is eating now.

Present 'be' verbs = (am, is, are)

Rule - Section A: The present continuous shows:

The action is happening now.

The action is not finished.

Rule - Section B: The present continuous shows:

You are in the middle of doing something or

The action is not finished.

Example: He is driving now.

• Please be quiet. I was speaking on the phone.

Rule - Section B: Sometimes the present continuous shows:

The action is not happening at this moment.

Example: I am learning Spanish these days.

He might not be learning right now.

It means that he has started the Spanish class and has not finished it yet.

Ex: The Spanish class started 2 weeks ago. It will end in 2 more weeks.

Rule - Section C: The present continuous can be used with 'today, this week, this year, etc.

Example: I am learning Spanish this year.

Rule - Section C: The present continuous is used to talk about a change that has started to happen.

Common words to express this are:

getting / changing / rising / increasing / starting/ becoming / growing / improving / falling / beginning
