What is RIT?

• Student's overall score in reading
• Indicates student's instructional level
• Informs classroom instruction
• Is the same as the SRI

MAP Elementary Normative Data

• RIT Scores represents students performing at 50th percentile
• represents students performing at 75th percentile
• On Grade Level RIT Range represents these specific times in the school year
• If a student scores higher or lower tht the OGL RIT scsore for the beginning, middle or end year, they can be above or below the 50th percentile

Lexile is..

• Is a fixed number/range for students
• Is not a part of text complexity
• Does not include a student's background knowlege
• Instructional and Independent

Why is PGCPS shifting to NWEA MAP?

• Predicts Proficiency
• Predicts whether student will graduate high school.
• Assesses after school programs.

MAP measures specific areas of reading in grades 3-10.

• Vocabulary Acquisition and Use
• Language and Writing
• Foundational Skills
• Literature and Informational

Lexile: Instructional and Independent

• One measure does not tell you everything about the student.
• Is not part of text complexity.
• Does not take in account the student's background knowledge.
• Is a fixed number/range for students.
