identify, read, and spell words with the Latin roots mis and mit
demonstrate comprehension of the text through oral or written response
Objectives:

C-le Words
You know the rules of the C-le spelling pattern:
C-le comes at the end of a syllable.
A consonant is before -le.
In a closed syllable, the consonant is doubled.
The e at the end is silent.
5
Now, you will divide words with the C-le syllable pattern.
Find and mark the vowels and consonants. Remember to keep consonant blends and digraphs together.
Find the final e at the end of the syllable and count back three.
Circle the C-le pattern, and divide the word before the C-le spelling pattern. Blend the syllables together to read the whole word.
6
Dividing C-le syllables for words ending in -ckle follows a different pattern.
For example, when dividing syllables in the word “pickle,“ find the e and count back three.
This brings you to the letter k, but the letter k is part of the digraph ck, and you do not divide digraphs.
You cannot double the digraph ck to make the syllable “pi” have a short vowel sound.
Since you do not divide or double digraphs, you will divide the syllable between the ck and l.
