Relative pronouns help us to give more information about a person, object, place, time or possession in a sentence.

Example:

She is the girl who won the singing contest.

She is the girl whose house is by the beach.

Relative pronouns help us to join 2 sentences that are related:

e.g. He is the man. He plays soccer during the nights

He is the man who plays soccer during the nights.

e.g. It is the company. It sells carton boxes

It is the company which sells carton boxes

The blue sentences are known as defining relative clause and the red sentences the main clause
