KANSAS NEBRASKA ACT 1854

May 30, 1854 – The Kansas Nebraska

Act REPEALED the Missouri
Compromise.

Created two new territories Kansas

and Nebraska.

Allowed for POPULAR

SOVOREIGNTY or for the people to
vote on whether or not they wanted
to be a slave state or free state.

This led to Bleeding Kansas

The southern states do not like what Lincoln is trying to do,

so they SECEDE.

South Carolina becomes the 1st state to secede in 1860.

Texas becomes the 7th state to secede in 1861.
