Combining Sentences

Subordinating Conjunctions

We use subordinating conjunctions when combining sentences with one independent clause (complete thought) and one dependent clause (incomplete thought). If the subordinating conjunction is at the beginning of the sentence, a comma will separate the two clauses. There is NO comma if the subordinating conjunction is in the middle of the two clauses.
