Lesson Objectives:
1) Identify common behaviors that toddlers develop
2) Define strategies parents and caregivers employ to model positive behavior in a toddler
3) Explain how a parent can help to build positive self-esteem in a toddler

Warm Up
• "Use your words." How many of you used to hear this or even say it to your own kids?
A toddler may not yet be able to express themselves and their emotions clearly through their voices. Instead, they may express themselves by acting out.
Acting out is how toddlers express themselves through actions.
Crying, kicking with their feet, or knocking things over are some examples of acting out.
Toddlers do not yet have the skills to handle these emotions, and if the behaviors are not addressed at their onset, they can follow the toddlers into childhood and beyond.
They need parental support and guidance to learn how to cope with these stressors.
