Bentuk Passive Voice

Form

Pada dasarnya, untuk membentuk suatu kalimat kita pasti memerlukan pola kalimat. Passive voice menggunakan pola kalimat Subject + Auxiliary verb (kata pembantu kata kerja) + Verb 3 (kata kerja bentuk ke-3).

Contoh passive Voice

Example

Ø The motorcycle is washed by Dad once a week (Motor itu dicuci oleh Ayah satu kali seminggu). Kalimat ini adalah passive voice karena subjek motor dikenai aktivitas, yaitu dicuci oleh Ayah.

*The object of an active sentence becomes the subject of a passive sentence.

*The subject of an active sentence is the object of by in the “by-phrase” in a passive sentence.

Object + am/is/are + V3 + by + Pronoun

Example:

The house is cleaned every day (by Ira).

The bed sheets are washed every Sunday (by Mrs. Lia).

Simple Present Tense

Present Continuous Tense

Object + am/is/are + being + V3 + by + Pronoun

Example:

The house is being cleaned (by Ira).

The bed sheets are being washed (by Mrs. Lia).

Object + have/has + been+ V3 + by + Pronoun

Example:

The house has been cleaned (by Ira).

The bed sheets have been washed (by Mrs. Lia).

Present Perfect Tense

Object + was/were + V3 + by + Pronoun

Example:

The house was cleaned (by Ira).

The bed sheets were washed (by Mrs. Lia).

Simple Past Tense

Object + was/were + being + V3 + by + Pronoun

Example:

The house was being cleaned (by Ira).

The bed sheets were being washed (by Mrs. Lia).

Past Contiuous Tense

Object + had + been + V3 + by + Pronoun

Example:

The house had been cleaned (by Ira).

The bed sheets had been washed (by Mrs. Lia).

Past Perfect Tense

Object + will/be going to + be + V3 + by + Pronoun

Example:

The house will be cleaned (by Ira).

The bed sheets are going to be washed (by Mrs. Lia).
