Today's Lesson:
We will be going over what we learned with expository (also known as informational) essay writing and taking a look at argumentative essay writing, which is similar!
Let's dive in.

Many essays that were turned in before Spring Break were very good!
The NUMBER ONE feedback to students was:
INCLUDE Sources/EBT ("according to Source _," "as stated in Source _", etc.) in each middle/body paragraph.
First...Good news!

The Florida B.E.S.T. Writing Assessment will be this Thursday, April 4th (make-ups are next week).
The test will be on your laptop.
You will either have an Expository or an Argumentative prompt.
You will be given a copy of the rubric and sources to use in your essay. USE :) <3
The test is 120 minutes. More time and accommodations will be provided if/when needed.

When you begin your essay, the FIRST STEP is to read the Prompt carefully so that you understand what it is asking you to write.
Second, read the Sources carefully, Highlight and annotate.
Then, Create an ITC Outline.
Then, you're ready to start writing!

Argumentative Essays
... are not very different from Expository!
Instead of just explaining a topic in detail, you will:
- choose a position that you will focus on
- combine evidence from the provided sources
- include and explain a counterclaim (the opposite view)
- transitions, evidence, grammar, multiple paragraphs (5-6)
