. It might be in the form of an instruction manual, an academic journal, an encyclopedia, or even just the back of a box of cereal. Anything that is written with the aim to explain a topic to the reader is informative writing - the reader will often come away having learned something​
and interesting. You might see informative writing go by other names, such as explanatory writing, ​
writing, or exposition. They all aim to impart information to the reader, and are therefore all informative writing.
