Plutarch and Vitruvius describe his works, most of his own evidence focused on mathematical works, such as "On the Sphere and Cylinder" which showcases his brilliance with geometry.

There are vast sources that credit this invention to the Greeks. They are pinpointed as laying the foundation for what we consider theatre today.

There are many sources that attribute this invention to the ancient astronomers. Hipparchus (c. 190 – c. 120 BCE) and Ptolemy (c. 90 – c. 168 CE) also made improvements.
