  • The purpose of informative writing is to share knowledge and facts

  • Informative writing often answers questions like "why" and "how."

  • It is also called "expository" or "explanatory" writing.

Since this style of writing is meant to explain, instruct, or define in an unbiased manner, the audience is someone who wants to learn about a topic.

WRITING A RECIPE

Include:

  • Article Opener : Exciting introduction of the recipe

  • What we need: List of ingredients - with specific measurements

  • Recipe instructions: Using time adverbials or imperative

  • Bonus: Facts about the recipe/food you use e.g "you may want to buy locally sourced free-range eggs to ensure freshness."

  • Tips or hints: "Be careful here when using a sharp knife, don't use without adult assitance."

Instructions example:

  • First, gently mash your soft- boiled eggs with a fork

  • Next, carefully add a dash of salt and pepper to your mashed eggs.

  • Afterwards, add a generous two tablespoons of organic mayonnaise to your eggs and mix in

  • Put the butter onto the bread, gently spreading the softened butter

  • Finally, assemble your sandwich adding the egg mixture on to one slice of bread, placing the other slice on top. Enjoy your delicious sandwich!
