If two shapes are congruent then that means they are the exact same size, and the exact same shape.​

What does Congruent mean?​

Decompose means to break into smaller parts.​

When you decompose a shape you split a shape into smaller, equal parts.

Each part is labeled with a Unit Fraction.​

What does it mean to Decompose a shape?​

​

To write a Unit Fraction the numerator is always 1 and the denominator tells us how many parts the shape has. A Unit Fraction is one part of a whole.​

1/2, 1/3, 1/5, 1/6 are all Unit Fractions​

Unit Fractions are used to label each part of a decomposed shape.​

Like congruent, equivalent fractions are when they are the same size and same shape, they take up the same amount of area.​
